Parameswaran gives keynote speech about visibility of Indian diaspora
Professor Radhika Parameswaran was the keynote speaker at the South Asian Media and Cultural Studies Conference at Florida State University on Feb. 7.
Her talk, “Rising Voices of the Indian Diaspora: A New South Asian Workforce Enters American Journalism,” discussed the growing visibility of the Indian community in the profession of journalism in the United States and how that could challenge the enduring stereotype of South Asians as “perpetual foreigners.”
