Parameswaran, Ghosh, Rao featured in Communication Currents
An article published by Herman B Wells endowed professor Radhika Parameswaran, doctoral student Pragya Ghosh and Pallavi Rao, PhD’21, is featured in the June issue of Communication Currents, an online publication of the National Communication Association.
The short essay in Communication Currents, “Feminism in Ladies Room,” presents a condensed and accessible version of their longer article, “Shit Talk in Shitty Terrain: Flushing Indian feminism through YouTube’s Comedic Conduits,” published in Communication and Critical/Cultural Studies. The article examines the cultural politics of “Ladies Room,” a YouTube comedy-driven drama set in six women-only bathrooms across Mumbai.
Communication Currents explains scholarly information in straightforward language geared for broad audiences, including communication experts working with laypeople, instructors and students, the press and other interested members of the public.
