Parameswaran at Global Fusion conference
Professor Radhika Parameswaran presented “Media, Danger and Moral Panics in the Gendered Global City” as part of the Global Fusion conference at Temple University Oct. 20-Oct. 23.
The talk focused on how Delhi, India, was represented in the media as an unsafe space for women following a 2012 rape case that received significant news coverage.
Parameswaran also presented in a session called “Tips on Publishing Your Work in a Referenced Journal” and moderated a research paper panel, “Media and Gender in India.”
The conference theme focused on urban cultures and patterns of the media in them, narratives of urban centers and networking in urban communication.
Parameswaran’s research focuses on gender and media, cultural studies, south Asia and qualitative research.
