Metzgar co-authors book chapter on communication, security
A chapter on international government strategic communication co-authored by associate professor Emily Metzgar appears in “The Handbook of Communication and Security.”
She wrote the chapter, “Strategic Communication and Security,” with Craig Hayden of the Marine Corps University. It addresses the ways governments communicate with foreign publics and how strategic communication differs from propaganda. It also includes a case study of the United States’ strategic communication goals surrounding foreign policy and how digital propaganda methods poses challenges.
