Mailland research featured in ‘Our Friend the Computer’ podcast
The episode, “Pre-Internet Networks: Minitel,” aired in early March.
Minitel was launched in the early ’80s and was the most successful version of an online service before the World Wide Web.
The episode drew on Mailland’s work including an article published in The Atlantic and a feature in the technology magazine IEEE Spectrum. Mailland, a telecommunications expert, co-founded the Minitel Research Lab, USA, to create a comprehensive, independent digital Minitel museum and resource center. His first book also focuses on Minitel, exploring the technology, culture and policy that sustained the mass-scale online system.
