Mailland discusses legal history of the video game industry
Associate professor Julien Mailland gave a lecture titled “Legal Origins of Modern Videogame Homebrewing” at the University of Virginia’s Institute of the Humanities & Global Cultures on Sept. 27.
IHGC works to advance humanistic research and inquiry across the disciplines and occasionally collaborates with external institutions to facilitate conversations.
Mailland visited the campus to share research featured in his recently published book, “The Game That Never Ends: How Lawyers Shape the Videogame Industry.” In it, he sheds light on why and how the role of lawyers is key for understanding the video game industry.
