Johnson authors book on Pyle’s Indiana writings
Associate Professor Emeritus Owen Johnson is author of a new book, At Home with Ernie Pyle, published Nov. 18 by Indiana University Press.
Johnson compiled writings by Ernie Pyle, the famed Pulitzer Prize-winning World War II correspondent, about Indiana to celebrate Pyle’s birthplace. He also wrote the introduction to the book.
In Pyle’s stories, he describes the lives of Hoosiers and the transformation of rural Indiana into a more modern and industrial state.
At Home with Ernie Pyle is the first compilation of Pyle’s writings about Indiana and its people.
