IU students, faculty win 23 statewide SPJ awards, including Student Journalist of the Year
Senior Laurel Demkovich was named Indiana Student Journalist of the Year, and IU students won awards in the print/digital, television, radio and online categories in the 2018 Society of Professional Journalists Best in Indiana Journalism Competition.
Awards were announced Friday at the chapter’s annual banquet in Indianapolis.
“Based on her submitted body of work, Laurel is the type of student all journalism students should strive to be: innovative, committed, and brave,” the judges’ wrote in their Journalist of the Year comments.
