Hall of Fame to induct Diana Hadley, MA’80
Alumna Diana Hadley, MA’80, is among five to be inducted into the Indiana Journalism Hall of Fame during a special ceremony Sept. 17 in Indianapolis.
Hadley is a journalism and media educator who founded the First Amendment Symposium for high school journalists. She is executive director of the Indiana High School Press Association and taught for 33 years in high school classrooms and newsrooms, including many summers at IU’s High School Journalism Institute.
Other inductees are:
- Ed Breen, a reporter and photographer who pioneered full-color photography in newspapers;
- John Norberg, a freelance writer and author renowned for his investigative journalism;
- Bill Schrader, former editor and associate publisher for Indiana publications such as The Herald-Times in Bloomington;
- The late Jim Bannon, who before his death in 1998 had a long career of service in journalism in Indiana including radio, reporting and publishing, and was co-chair of a committee that helped write the Indiana Open Door Law.
The IJHF also will honor Steven C. Moberly with the John P. McMeel Distinguished Service Award for his efforts to keep news transparent, including his sponsorship of the Indiana Open Door Law.
The ceremony is open to the public. Tickets are $50 per person and order forms are on the IJHF website.
The Media School partners with the IJHF for several events, and the hall is housed in Franklin Hall.
