Fritz awarded Dissertation Completion Fellowship
Doctoral candidate Niki Fritz was awarded the College of Arts and Sciences’ Dissertation Completion Fellowship.
Her dissertation, “Yes, No, and Maybe: The creation of a multidimensional scale to measure sexual consent behavioral intentions and the exploration of the role of campus sexual health messaging,” examines the relationship between sexual consent messaging and college students’ intent to use sexual consent skills.
Initial results suggest that exposure to consent messages only has a weak relationship with sexual consent intentions, suggesting there is a need to increase sexual education messaging on college campuses, Fritz said.
She also found women reported being more likely to use sexual consent during their next sexual encounter when compared to men.
