Francis adds commentary to restored Losing Ground
Associate professor Terri Francis contributed to a commentary track for the Milestone Films release of a restored version of Kathleen Collins’ Losing Ground, a 1982 film about a black female philosophy professor.
Francis created the audio-only commentary track, which is exclusive to the remastered version of the film and runs in sync with it as it plays, with associate professor of gender studies LaMonda Horton-Stallings.
The release is set for April 5 and includes a two-disc deluxe DVD and Blu-Ray set, and is made from rescued 16mm negatives of Losing Ground.
The set will have a number of bonus features, including Francis’ and Horton-Stallings’ commentary track, and an interview from the year the original film debuted with director Kathleen Collins conducted by the IU Black Film Center/Archive’s founding director Phyllis Klotman.
