Comfort article assesses NGO environmental journalism
An article by assistant professor Suzannah Evans Comfort in the latest issue of Journalism assesses environmental journalism produced by nongovernmental organizations.
“Curated journalism: A field theory approach to journalistic production by environmental non-governmental organizations,” by Comfort and Justin Blankenship of Auburn University, finds that environmental journalists who write for NGO publications generally follow norms and practices of traditional commercial journalism and that the NGO field may be borrowing cultural capital from the more powerful journalistic field.
