Choi study on news sharing behaviors published
Jihyang Choi, PhD’14, is author of “News Internalizing and Externalizing,” published in Journalism and Mass Communication Quarterly’s December 2016 issue.
Now an assistant professor at Ewha Womans University in Seoul, South Korea, Choi studies the dimensions of news sharing on online social networking sites, analyzing changing patterns in news by defining it as news “sharing.”
Choi concluded that two behaviors comprise news sharing: news internalizing and externalizing, which can be divided into subcategories: browsing and personalizing in internalizing, and recontextualizing and endorsing in externalizing. Choi conducted a national survey of adults in the United States to draw these conclusions.
