Brown receives Telly Award for ad campaign
Incoming Media School senior Emily Brown recently won a Telly Award for a political campaign series produced by Babble Media, an advertisement agency she runs with her partner. The series, “Jeff 4 Carmel,” was named Best Series: Political & Campaigns in Social Video in the 44th Annual Telly Awards on May 23.
The “Jeff 4 Carmel” series was a set of advertisements promoting Carmel City Councilman Jeff Worrell as he ran for reelection in the 2023 primary election. It featured a long-form informational video and eight short-form ones designed for social media platforms. These helped to secure his success in the May primary.
Babble Media was founded by Brown’s partner, Jack Hudson, a senior in the College of Communication at Butler University. Babble aims to serve clients through various mediums, including videography, web design, photography, and brand development.
The Telly Awards was founded in 1979 as an opportunity to honor traditional local, regional, and cable television commercials. Now, the awards include newer media formats, such as web series, VR, 360 video, and more. With dozens of categories, they recognize works that are self-created or created for a client, brand, or company. They receive over 12,000 entries each year from all 50 states and five continents.
Brown is an incoming senior studying film, tv, and digital production at IU. She is a member of Indiana University Student Television and a partner and digital specialist with Babble Media.
“It (the award) wouldn’t have been possible without the information and experience I have gained from The IU Media School,” she said.
