Alum wins Communicator Award for role in WFIU’s audio adaptation of ‘A Watcher in the Woods’

WTIU/ WFIU Producer and Director and Media School Adjunct Instructor Russell McGee’s audio adaptation of the novel “A Watcher in the Woods” has won multiple accolades of The 31st Annual Communicator Awards. The audio play originally aired on WFIU Public Radio in April of 2024 as part of the celebration of the total solar eclipse in Indiana.
The independent production received three Communicator Awards of excellence for craft on-air talent, craft sound design, and craft editing, and three awards of distinction for general production, craft writing, and craft original music.
One of the award recipients include Aiden Denehie, BA’25, who played the role of the male lead, Mark Fleming, in the two-part limited radio series. Denehie received the Award of Excellence for Craft-On-Air Talent for his performance in the audio drama. After graduating from The Media School, Aiden is moving to Philadelphia to become a voiceover actor.
With thousands of entries received from across the United States and worldwide, fellow recipients for this year’s awards include Netflix, The Walt Disney Company, NBCUniversal, Apple, PepsiCo, McKesson, Savannah College of Art and Design, Zeta Global, Bank of America, and others.
