Three Media School students were ranked among the top 20 collegiate broadcasters in the country by the Sportscasters Talent Agency of America.
Griffin Gonzalez was named a First Team All-American, Grace Ybarra was designated Second Team, and Derek Decker made Third Team in the STAA All-America competition. All three students graduated with Media School degrees in May.

The STAA All-America program recognizes the nation’s most outstanding collegiate radio and TV sports broadcasters. Gonzalez and Decker placed in the competition last year as well.

As a member of the top six, Gonzalez is named an STAA All-American and will receive three free months of STAA membership, a certificate of achievement and the exposure that comes with being recognized by STAA as one of the nation’s top young sports broadcasters.
Gonzalez is now a sports and news reporter for WDRB in Louisville. Ybarra is a sports reporter and anchor at WCBI-TV in Northeast Mississippi. Decker is the play-by-play voice of the Chillicothe (Missouri) Mudcats for the summer.
