3 Media School students win all 2024 Last Row Party Scholarships
Media School students were recently named winners of all three of the Indianapolis Press Club’s Last Row Party Scholarships. Each winner will receive a $1,000 scholarship check and award certificate at the press club’s Last Row Party on May 23.
The Indianapolis Press Club foundation awards three scholarships each year for the categories of deadline news, feature writing, and sports reporting.
Winners for each category this year are:
Deadline News
Ruth Cronin: “3 Little 500 cyclists hit by cars in three days this week” and “Indiana Graduate Workers Coalition holds rally at the Sample Gates Thursday”
Feature Writing
Mina Denny: “Bull Riding Story”
John Bansch Sports Reporting
Matt Press: “’Missed that’: Xavier Johnson has game to remember in Indiana’s win at Maryland” and “‘Started to feel real’: Indiana’s long snapper, unheralded leader Sean Wracher eyes NFL”
The awards mirror the checks handed out to the last row drivers in the Indianapolis 500, who receive checks for 31, 32, and 33 cents and are honored at the Last Row Party at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
