Falling
Black screen. Music begins.
We see someone walking. She runs into another person. They are carrying book bags.
Black screen. Text reads: Falling.
We see a woman dancing in an empty car garage. She is wearing a white tank top and white ripped jeans.
Another person stands in the background, also dressed in white. They step forward and see one another.
Both continue to do contemporary dance moves.
The original dancer stands back and watches the other.
The two walk close to one another before beginning to dance synchronously.
The music ends. The two hug.
We see the first dancer lying on a couch from the point of view of the other. We can see her mouth moving, but we do not hear the sound over the music.
Screen flashes black.
We see dishes being washed from the point of view of the other.
Screen flashes black.
We see her speaking again and pointing to a photo.
We see her decorating a Christmas tree.
Screen flashes black.
We see mistletoe and her walking closer.
Screen flashes black.
We see roses being carried to the door, still from the point of view of the other individual.
The door opens and they give the roses to her. She puts them in a vase.
Screen flashes black.
We see her unlocking the key to hear house. We see her on the phone. She bends over and finds her way to sitting down. She walks over and looks at the roses, still on the phone. She sits down and drops the phone.
Screen flashes black.
We see her, in different clothes looking at her tree. Taking down the decorations and mistletoe.
We see her wearing black and putting her head in her hands.
Screen flashes black.
We see candles and her sitting with her back against the door in the dark.
She touches the roses.
Screen flashes black.
Screen shows a winter sky and emergency tape.
Screen flashes black.
We see her sitting in a car and bringing roses to a cemetery. She puts the roses down and the music plays softly.
She begins to return to her car before turning around to take one of the roses with her.
She is wearing black ripped jeans and a black shirt now.
She looks at the rose in her car and puts it in front the dash.

Deonna Weatherly, MS’20, wrote, produced and directed “Falling” in her fall 2018 Cinematography course. The film was accepted to festivals across the US.
