The 2020 program has been canceled in compliance with IU's suspension of university-affiliated travel in response to the coronavirus outbreak.
Preservation through production
Join The Media School on a summer break service trip to Charles Pinckney National Historic Site and Fort Moultrie National Historical Park in South Carolina.
As a volunteer, you will use your storytelling skills to create short promotional and educational videos to help share the National Park Service sites' stories with current and future visitors.
To create these projects, you will participate in activities at the park, giving you the opportunity to learn about the historic and natural significance of each NPS site.
This is a noncredit-bearing service learning opportunity; it is not a component of a Media School class.
If accepted, you will be required to participate in preparatory meetings and complete preparatory work.
May 10-16, 2020
The cost of the program is $495. This covers transportation between Bloomington and South Carolina, and lodging. It does not include meals or other personal expenses.
Students will travel in an SUV driven by Media School staff members and stay in rented homes in South Carolina.
All Media School majors are eligible to apply. Students with majors outside The Media School are welcome to apply and will be considered based on demonstrated interest and experience specific to the service project.
The application deadline for this program has passed.
