Social media & content coordinator

Whippoorwill Hill

Paid | Advertising | Hybrid | Internship | Part-time | City: Bloomington

Whippoorwill Hill is seeking a creative, organized, and motivated Part-Time Social Media & Content Coordinator to support the venue’s digital presence, storytelling, and brand development.

This role is ideal for an IU student, recent graduate, or early-career professional interested in social media, weddings and events, hospitality, photography, video, historic preservation, small business marketing, and visual storytelling.

Whippoorwill Hill is a wedding and event venue located on a historic farm in Bloomington, Indiana. The venue’s brand is rooted in meaningful celebrations, thoughtful hospitality, historic preservation, natural beauty, and the ongoing stewardship of a working farm. The right candidate will help communicate that story through engaging, polished, and authentic digital content.

Position Overview

This is a mostly remote, part-time role with occasional in-person participation at Whippoorwill Hill for content capture during weddings, events, venue tours, styled shoots, open houses, and seasonal farm/venue moments.

The ideal candidate is someone who wants to grow with the company over time, learn the Whippoorwill Hill brand and operations deeply, and potentially continue working with the venue beyond their time at IU.

This position may be structured to support internship credit if needed, but it is intended to be a paid, ongoing part-time role rather than a short-term unpaid internship.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities may include:

  • Creating and scheduling social media content for Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, Pinterest, and/or other platforms
  • Developing short-form video content, including reels and behind-the-scenes clips
  • Capturing photo and video content during select in-person events and venue activities
  • Writing captions, blog posts that reflect the Whippoorwill Hill brand voice
  • Helping obtain, organize and maintain a library of photos, videos, testimonials, vendor content, and event highlights
  • Repurposing wedding galleries, vendor photos, and venue content into social media posts
  • Supporting seasonal content planning around weddings, open houses, farm life, historic spaces, and venue updates
  • Identifying opportunities to showcase the venue’s story, guest experience, preservation work, and visual beauty
  • Tracking basic content performance and helping identify what types of posts are resonating
  • Collaborating with the Whippoorwill Hill team to ensure content is accurate, timely, and aligned with the venue’s standards

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will be:

  • Creative, dependable, and self-motivated
  • Comfortable working mostly remotely while staying organized and communicative
  • Interested in social media, content creation, weddings, events, hospitality, or small business marketing
  • Skilled or developing skills in photography, short-form video, reels, Canva, captions, and digital storytelling
  • Able to capture polished, authentic content during occasional in-person events
  • Thoughtful about brand voice, visual consistency, and customer experience
  • Comfortable learning the personality and values of a local family-owned business
  • Interested in a longer-term opportunity rather than a one-semester role only

Schedule and Location

This position is expected to average approximately 4-10 hours per week to start, with room to grow depending on interest, skill, availability, and business needs.

Most work may be completed remotely, including content planning, caption writing, scheduling, editing, and organizing digital assets.

Some in-person participation will be required at Whippoorwill Hill in Bloomington, Indiana, primarily for capturing photo and video content at select events, open houses, venue tours, and seasonal content opportunities, but this aspect is negotiable.

Evening and weekend availability is helpful for occasional event coverage, but the schedule can be planned in advance.

Compensation

Compensation is expected to be $20–$24 per hour, depending on experience.

This is a paid part-time position, with the possibility of increased hours, expanded responsibilities, and longer-term work for the right person.

How to Apply

Interested applicants should submit:

  • A brief note of interest
  • Resume or summary of relevant experience
  • Links or examples of social media content, photography, video, Canva work, writing samples, or related creative projects, if available
  • General availability and any relevant scheduling constraints
  • Long term plan

Whippoorwill Hill is especially interested in candidates who are excited to learn the venue’s brand, understand the rhythm of the business, and help tell the story of a historic Bloomington event venue over time.
