Biography
Seung Woo Chae is a Ph.D. candidate at The Media School. Before the current Ph.D. program, he worked as a TV producer for 7 years and a PR manager for 4 years in South Korea. His last job in the industry was a TV producer in the entertainment program division of KBS (Korean Broadcasting System), which is the largest broadcaster in South Korea producing a variety of K-culture content.
Based on his expertise in video production, his research area focuses on communication on online video platforms such as Twitch, YouTube, and TikTok. Particularly, he is interested in how the text functionalities in the platforms (e.g., chat on Twitch, comment on YouTube) are associated with the content of videos. He has presented his works in many conferences including ICA (International Communication Association), AEJMC (Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication), NCA (National Communication Association), and HICSS (Hawaii International Conference on System Sciences).
Side note: He is a big fan of the Indiana Pacers and loves the NBA.
