Biography
Meredith Hemphill is a first-year Master’s student in journalism with a focus on science communication. She received Bachelor of Science degrees in Plant Biology and Genetics from North Carolina State University with a minor in Creative Writing in 2018. While working in science for a short while, she experienced firsthand the disconnect between the scientific community and the public, and sometimes between the various branches of science as well. Although science practice did not suit her, Meredith discovered a new calling in bridging that disconnect.
Meredith has also long been a writer of speculative fiction under the pen name Meri Elena and maintains a monthly blog, Encyclopaedia Felidae, about all things feline.
