Biography
I am a PhD student in the Media School. I’m interested in understanding how the discourses and practices of film, art, and politics intersect in different times and places. My master thesis analyzes the politics and aesthetics of Robert Kramer’s early non-fiction and fiction films (Ice and Milestones in particular). My current research project focuses on the reception and repurposing of art cinema discourses and films in postwar Taiwan. Related to this project, I’ve written about USIA and its curation of experimental films. The essay can be found here. Before I came to Bloomington, I studied at Boston University and received an M.F.A. in Film and Television Studies.
