Biography
I am a PhD student in the Media School. I’m interested in understanding how the discourses and practices of film, art, and politics intersect in different times and places. My master thesis analyzes the politics and aesthetics of Robert Kramer’s early non-fiction and fiction films (Ice and Milestones in particular). My current research project focuses on USIA’s overseas programming and exhibition of experimental and student films during the late sixties and seventies, as well as the local responses to and appropriation of these texts. Before I came to Bloomington, I studied at Boston University and received an M.F.A. in Film and Television Studies.
