Biography
Hello! I am a second-year M.A. student here at IU, and I received my B.S. in journalism from Texas State University. While at IU, I am focusing my research to understand how historically stereotypical representations influence contemporary media portrayals. Essentially, I am trying to see if current media depictions still have stereotypical elements or if representations have shifted due to overt racism not being tolerated.
My current project seeks to explore the representation of Latinas born in the US, and how their identities are negotiated in public discourse.
