‘Stroke: Time is Brain’ documentary premieres at Kan-Kan Cinema

Four years after production began, the documentary “Stroke: Time is Brain” premiered May 6 at Kan-Kan Cinema in Indianapolis.
Senior lecturer Susanne Schwibs was co-editor and co-writer, Professor Emeritus Steve Krahnke served as the executive producer, and Glenn Gebhard of Loyola Marymount University was the director. The film examines how stroke symptoms often go unnoticed by those experiencing them.

Through research, expert interviews, and personal experiences, the film highlights advances in stroke treatment and provides guidance to help people recognize stroke symptoms in themselves and others, communicate effectively with EMS and emergency department personnel, and better understand available treatments.
Hosted by WFYI Indianapolis, the screening was followed by a panel with IU Health’s Dr. Ann Jones, a vascular neurologist, and Dr. Kaustubh Limaye, board-certified in vascular neurology and neuroendovascular surgery, discussing advances in stroke care. An IU Health mobile stroke unit was also stationed outside the theater for attendees to explore.
