Multiple IU faculty identified as top-cited communication and media scholars

A multivariate assessment of citations to the research of communication and media scholars has identified multiple former, emeritus, and current Indiana University Bloomington faculty as highly influential.
The research, conducted by faculty at Stanford’s School of Medicine and encompassing communication and media scholarship from 1960 through 2023, utilized standardized information on citations, h-index, co-authorship adjusted hm-index, citation to papers in different authorship positions, and a composite indicator (c-score).
Only citation data were considered; number of publications (i.e., research productivity) was not included in the analytical formulae. In order to be listed, scholars had to have a percentile rank of 2% or above in their field of study.
The IUB faculty listed in the career-long (1960 to 2023) analysis were Distinguished Professor Emeritus of Communication Science Annie Lang, Distinguished Professor Emeritus of Journalism David Weaver, and professor and Director of Communication Science Paul Wright. Ralph Winslow Endowed Professor and associate professor Minjeong Kang was listed in a prior calendar year analysis pertaining to 2023.
