Black Camera publishes fall 2025 issue
Black Camera’s Vol. 17, No. 1 fall publication features two close-ups, a roundtable between filmmakers and curators coordinated by previous Editor-in-Chief and Herman B Wells Endowed Professor (Class of 1948) Michael Martin and current Editor-in-Chief and professor Akin Adesokan, one peer-reviewed article, and two dossiers.
The close-ups focus on the aesthetics and politics of filmmakers Sarah Maldoror and Sara Gómez. The women’s intersecting directing and screenwriting careers mark a revolutionary turn in fighting oppression and empowering women in Africa. Original essays, peer-reviewed articles, and transcribed interviews are featured within each closeup.
Published every fall and spring semester, Black Camera is devoted to the study and documentation of the Black cinematic experience and is the only scholarly film journal of its kind in the United States.
