Several Media School faculty and graduate students attended the 109th annualAssociation for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication conference held in New Orleans Aug. 5-8 serving as discussants, committee members, panelists, and presenters of their research.
Doctoral student Haruna Mohammed Salisu received third place for the Student Paper Award and doctoral candidate Ahmed Tahsin Shams was named an AEJMC & MCSD Diversity & Inclusion Career Development Fellow.
Assistant professor Taeyoung Lee, Junghyun Moon, Shitemi Khamadi, and Umer Farooq of The Media School received a Top Poster Award for their Scholar-to-Scholar presentation, “Bypassing the Gate: How Google’s AI-Generated Summaries Reshape News Distribution and Consumption.” The inaugural award recognized the team’s knowledge of the project, clarity and organization of the presentation, responses to questions, and overall presentation presence.
