The Media School is pleased to welcome 10 new faculty this semester, whose backgrounds span journalism, sports media, audio storytelling, film, game design, advertising, and emerging media technologies. Their experience ranges from decades in newsrooms, broadcast production, and independent media to research and teaching focused on artificial intelligence, analytics, and digital communication. Several also bring longstanding connections to Indiana University, including two Media School alumni and three IU alumni.
Together, the new faculty add a broad mix of professional, creative, and scholarly perspectives to the school’s teaching and research.

Alex Chambers has joined The Media School as a clinical lecturer. He also works as a host for WFIU, the public radio station serving south-central Indiana with news and classical and jazz programming.
Chambers holds a doctorate in American studies and a master’s in education from IU; a master’s in creative writing from the University of Alabama; and a bachelor’s in English with high honors from the University of Michigan. His professional background includes teaching in the humanities and arts. Since 2020 he has focused on podcast production, instruction, and hosting.

Sandra Chapman has joined The Media School as the Roy W. Howard visiting journalist-in-residence. An award-winning investigative journalist, documentary filmmaker, and president of Prince Media Group, LLC, Chapman previously spent 18 years as an investigative reporter at WTHR in Indianapolis and 10 years at WISH-TV.
She is the author and producer of “The Girl in the Yellow Scarf: One of Indiana’s Most Notorious Cold Cases Solved as a Town Tries to Leave Behind Its Past.” Chapman was inducted into the Indiana Journalism Hall of Fame in 2024 and the Indiana Broadcast Pioneers Hall of Fame in 2025.

Max Jones, BA’74, has joined The Media School as a visiting professor of practice. He previously served as editor of the Tribune-Star in Terre Haute for nearly 24 years and as editor of the Commercial-News in Danville, Illinois, before retiring in 2024.
Jones holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism from IU Bloomington. His career has spanned nearly five decades in newspaper journalism, editorial leadership, and journalism education, and he was inducted into the Indiana Journalism Hall of Fame in 2024.

Talalah Khan has joined The Media School as an assistant professor. She previously served as an instructor of record and academic course designer at Florida State University and taught marketing and business courses at the Lahore University of Management Sciences.
Khan holds a doctorate in communication theory and research and a master’s in integrated marketing communication from Florida State University; and a bachelor’s in management science from the Lahore University of Management Sciences. Her research focuses on social media advertising, influencer marketing, luxury consumer behavior, and artificial intelligence in advertising.

Eric McEver has joined The Media School as an assistant professor. He previously served as a visiting assistant professor of film at Kenyon College and taught screenwriting, film studies, and animation courses at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts.
McEver holds a bachelor’s in Japanese studies from Kenyon College and a master’s in film production from New York University Tisch School of the Arts Asia. His professional experience includes directing and screenwriting feature films, with more than 15 years of experience living and working in Asia and extensive work in international film production.

Nathan Mishler, MS’08, transitioned from a visiting lecturer to a full-time lecturer in game design. He first joined The Media School faculty in August 2023. In addition to his teaching role, Mishler works with Bloomington-based game development studio Studio Cypher as a business manager, writer, and programmer. During more than two decades with the studio, he has contributed to a range of digital projects, including websites, games, mobile applications, and interactive kiosk software.
Mishler earned his bachelor’s degree in computer science from Goshen College and his master’s degree in telecommunications from IU.

Philip Nardiello has joined The Media School as a lecturer. He previously served as executive sports producer at WXIN-TV/WTTV-TV in Indianapolis, where he produced sports content for FOX59 and CBS4 newscasts, streaming programs, and special event coverage.
Nardiello holds a bachelor’s in telecommunications from Ball State University. His professional experience spans more than two decades in sports broadcasting, including producing coverage of the NFL, NCAA tournaments, college athletics, and professional sports.

Kamady Rudd has joined The Media School as a lecturer. She previously served as a freelance journalist and sports broadcaster for Spectrum, FOX Sports, SEC Network, and ESPN. Rudd currently works as public relations and government affairs manager at Mainstream Fiber Networks.
Rudd holds a bachelor’s in kinesiology from IU. Her professional experience includes more than 14 years in broadcast journalism, anchoring, reporting, sports analysis, and multimedia storytelling, along with teaching multimedia journalism and sports broadcasting at IU.

Nate Wrigley has joined The Media School as a clinical lecturer. He currently serves as production manager for RTV, where he oversees broadcast production operations and supervises student production staff.
Wrigley holds a bachelor’s in communications and culture from IU. His professional experience includes television directing, producing, and production management for WTIU, WFIU, and IU Athletics, as well as teaching multi-camera television production courses at IU.

Nan Zhang has joined The Media School as an assistant professor. She previously served as an instructor and teaching assistant in advertising at Michigan State University, where she taught data analytics and media analytics courses and conducted research on advertising, artificial intelligence, and computational methods.
Zhang holds a master’s in digital storytelling and in computer science from Ball State University. She recently earned a doctorate in information and media from Michigan State University. Her research focuses on advertising analytics, machine learning, computer vision, and the use of artificial intelligence in strategic communication.
