Deaf History of Cinema and Independent Deaf Filmmaking in Poland and the US
Institute of Audiovisual Arts at Jagiellonian University assistant professor Magdalena Zdrodowska will present “Deaf History of Cinema and Independent Deaf Filmmaking in Poland and the U.S.”
Zdrodowska’s presentation focuses on the amateur deaf film movement that developed in the U.S. in the early 20th century and compares it with a similar trend that flourished in Poland under the communist regime and in the transformation era.
This event is co-sponsored by The Media School’s Center for Documentary Research and Practice and Cinema and Media Studies Unit, alongside Hamilton-Lugar’s REEI, Polish Studies Center and Institute for European Studies.
