College Possum video game teaser
College Possum is a narrative-driven puzzle game developed around the theme of overcoming social anxiety through conversation-based challenges. Created by a team of students, the project follows a trio of possums disguised in a trench coat as they navigate a series of college‑party environments. Rather than relying on fast‑paced action, the game emphasizes emotional storytelling, using dialogue puzzles and situational obstacles to portray the gradual process of building confidence over the course of a semester. Designed with an emphasis on character, humor, and player empathy, College Possum aims to offer a more thoughtful, behind‑the‑scenes look at the internal hurdles that shape everyday social interactions.
The creators – Marlena Ames, Natalie Hernandez, Jacob Dimino, and JJ Shriver – pitched the game’s concept at the annual Game Design Shark Tank event held at the end of fall 2025. The “sharks” selected College Possum as one of five games that moved forward to production. The game will be released in spring 2027.
