Emily Ehmer died Sept. 3, 2019, after a battle with cancer. She was 68 years old and an assistant professor of journalism at the School of Journalism and Mass Communication at Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas.

Along with Ammina Kothari, PhD'12, Ehmer published "Coverage of Burmese refugees in Indiana news media: An analysis of textual and visual frames" in Journalism: Theory, Practice and Criticism. Before earning her doctorate degree in mass communication, Ehmer worked for The Noblesville Ledger.
