Jennifer Orsi is senior director for publishing and local news initiatives at the Poynter Institute, where she oversees the newsroom, engagement, and events teams as well as special projects related to local news. She joined Poynter after serving as VP of content for Gannett overseeing their newspapers in Florida and Georgia and executive editor of the Sarasota Herald-Tribune.

She spent three decades at the Tampa Bay Times, starting as a reporter in the Brandon bureau and rising to become the first woman appointed the newspaper’s sole managing editor before working as the director of marketing content and communications for an asset management company. She lives in Bradenton, FL with her husband Mike Stephenson, BA ‘89. (August 2023)
