Richard Gotshall has joined the board of the Indiana Methodist Historical Society and is responsible for their printed materials. He also recently completed writing "Growing in Christ for 200 Years," a bicentennial history of the Franklin United Methodist Church, where he has served as historian for more than 25 years. The history is his third book. The first was a novel about the Underground Railroad, and the second was a history of the USS Iowa during World War II.

Gotshall retired from the Daily Journal in Franklin in 2016. He was also a torch bearer for the Indiana Bicentennial Torch Relay that same year. (June 2024)
