Renee Ferguson, BA'71, died on June 6, 2025, aged 75. She has had a highly successful career as a journalist, being the first Black woman to work as an investigative reporter in Chicago. She started her career at CBS2 in 1977 before moving to CBS News in Atlanta and eventually returning to Chicago in 1987 to join NBC5. She has received seven Chicago Emmy Awards, the DuPont Award, the Gracie Award, the Associated Press Award for Best Investigative Reporting and many other awards. In 2022, she was felicitated as the Media School Distinguished Alumni Award winner. (June 2025)
