Victor Gama to perform at Buskirk-Chumley

Angolan composer and musical instrument designer Victor Gama will perform his composition “Pieces for Acrux and Toha” at 7 p.m. Thursday, March 22, at the Buskirk-Chumley Theater. The event is free and open to the public.

The Media School is a co-sponsor of the event, along with the IU African Studies Program and the College Arts and Humanities Institute.

Friday, March 23, at 10:30 a.m. in room GA1112 of the Global and International Studies Building, Gama will discuss two of his current projects: “Tsikaya —Músicos do Interior,” which invites composers and musicians in rural Angola to record their work for sharing globally via a digital platform; and “3thousandRIVERS voices in the forest,” a multimedia opera about the Amazon.
