The Media School will host the Roy W. Howard Archive Symposium Oct. 25-26.
Howard was an influential journalist and publisher, and he ran the United Press and the Scripps-Howard newspaper chain in the early 20th century. IU is home to archives of many of his papers, and this symposium will celebrate the digitization of these records. An online archive launched this summer.
The event will include a keynote speaker, a paper session, a roundtable discussion on archives and a panel of scholars who have used this archive. The event is funded by the Scripps-Howard Foundation and the Howard family.
