Director David Gatten will give the Jorgensen Guest Filmmaker Lecture“Working with Words: Historical Documents, Systems of Knowledge and Text-as-Moving Image Art,” at 3 p.m. March 21 at the IU Cinema. The presentation is part of the Underground Film Series sponsored by The Media School.
The IU Cinema presents Jorgensen lectures with leading directors, producers and screenwriters like David Gatten with the support of the Ove W. Jorgensen foundation. These lectures usually are at the IU Cinema, free and open to the public.

Gatten has explored the intersection of printed word and moving image over the last 19 years. His films trace private lives and public histories to combine philosophy, biography and poetry with experiments in cinematic forms and narrative structures.
While on campus, Gatten also will discuss his film The Extravagant Shadows after a 6:30 p.m. screening that evening. This screening is free, but requires tickets. Visit the IU Auditorium box office for tickets or reserve them online.
