Scholarships and Awards

Scholarships at The Media School

Thanks to generous alumni and friends, The Media School has a robust scholarship program with both merit- and need-based awards for students. Most scholarships are awarded in April to apply toward tuition and expenses in the following academic year.

Incoming freshmen:

Incoming freshmen are eligible for a limited number of scholarships based on the Selective Scholarship Application that is part of the admissions process.

Current students:

To be considered for the majority of our scholarships, current students complete one general online application annually that helps us rank applications according to merit and need. A faculty selection committee reviews each application and tries to match the best student with each scholarship based on restrictions for that award.

Merit is based on student academics, activities, internships, honors and a personal statement. Need is determined by completion of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

Timeline

Awards are announced each spring for the following academic year.

  • January: Student applications are due.
  • February: Faculty deliberations.
  • Early March: Scholarship notifications go out to all applicants; scholarship recipients are invited to the annual scholarship and awards ceremony.
  • April: Students, families and scholarship donors attend annual scholarship and awards ceremony.

A few scholarships and awards are exceptions to this general process. Watch for updates on these special opportunities throughout the academic year.
