    Biography

I study the media representation of political leaders and movements in relation to power, image and consensus. I am particularly focused on documentary films and visual news (both contemporary and newsreels). In the last three years I have studied the representation of the image and body of Benito Mussolini in the newsreels that were produced during the Fascist dictatorship. My study was published in the Journal of Italian Cinema and Media Studies:

'Famulari, Umberto,  Journal of Italian Cinema & Media Studies, Volume 4, Number 2, March 2016, pp. 249-265(17)

I am currently working on a publication that analyzes the representation of the Italian invasion of Russia in the documentaries produced during the Mussolini's regime.

I am an Associate Instructor in Visual Communication for the Spring term 2017.
