    Biography

Generally I am interested in international communication and political communication. More specifically I study the media representation and coverage of political leaders, movements  and institutions in relation to power, image and consensus.

In the last three years I have studied the representation of the image and body of Benito Mussolini in newsreels and documentaries that were produced during the Fascist dictatorship. Part of my research was published in the Journal of Italian Cinema and Media Studies:

'Famulari, Umberto,  Journal of Italian Cinema & Media Studies, Volume 4, Number 2, March 2016, pp. 249-265(17)

I am currently working on a study that scrutinizes how the right wing leader of the Italian's Northern League Matteo Salvini interacts with his followers on-line.

I am an Associate Instructor in Visual Communication for the Spring and Fall term 2017.
