Indiana Men's Basketball is Back

Indiana Basketball is back, starting a new season with new players.

Last Sunday, the men’s team held a closed scrimmage at Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis against Loyola Chicago in order to prepare for Thursday nights exhibition against USI at Assembly Hall. The Hoosiers won 70-48 after just 40 minutes of play.

To further prepare themselves and their fans for the season, they also held an open practice last Tuesday where IU students could come and watch the team practice. You were required to bring your student ID and you could enjoy pizza and pictures with the players after their practice. Unfortunately, this one was strictly for the fans, no media allowed.

We also got to hear from head coach Archie Miller before their first actual open scrimmage last night. You can listen to his preview of the USI exhibition below:

IU showed up on Thursday night for their first open exhibition and won 96-62 against USI. Ten different Hoosiers scored during this game, but Romeo Langford and Rob Phinesee led with 13 points each.

Additionally, I got to speak with IU basketball fans about their hopes for this years team. All of their answers were very similar: they hope to have a successful post season tournament run in March.

Their next game is Tuesday against Chicago State. Tip off is at 6:30 PM.
