WIUX to celebrate 50 years with week of festivities

WIUX is celebrating 50 years with a full week of activities and fundraisers.

Activities run Oct. 9-13 and include food, concerts and a chance to “rent” a WIUX director. See the full list of events below, or go to the WIUX Facebook page to learn more. 

Monday, Oct. 9: Rent-a-Director

  • Where: WIUX studio in Franklin Hall
  • Make a bid on the station’s Facebook page to do fun activities with WIUX directors.
  • Rentals available through Friday.

Tuesday, Oct. 10: Dine & Donate

  • Where: Mother Bear’s Pizza
  • Support WIUX by eating at Mother Bear’s. Bring the WIUX flier posted at the station in Franklin Hall and on Facebook.

Wednesday, Oct. 11 through Thursday, Oct. 12: 24-Hour Pledge-a-Thon

  • Listen to special content on 99.1 FM from noon Wednesday to noon Thursday.

Wednesday, Oct. 11: Open Mic Comedy Night

  • Where: 714 E. 9th St.
  • When: 7-9:30 p.m.
  • Night includes Baked!, pizza, comedians, musicians and more. Attendees are welcome to perform.
  • Admission is $5.

Friday, Oct. 13: Pledge Drive Show

  • Where: The Bishop, 123 S. Walnut St.
  • When: Doors open at 8 p.m., show begins at 9 p.m.
  • Show features Omar Apollo and Andrew Paul Davis.
  • Ages 18+
  • Presale tickets are $7 and available at the WIUX studio in Franklin Hall.
  • Tickets are $10 day-of-show.
