The Media School Report • Dec. 6, 2017

Through the Gates: IU This Week chats with award-winning filmmaker and IU alumna Eliza Hittman, who recently spoke at the IU Cinema as part of the Jorgensen Guest Filmmaker Series.

Hittman, BA’01, is an independent filmmaker whose work has been featured at Sundance Film Festival, the British Film Institute, the Guggenheim (Bilbao) and more. Her 2013 debut film, Forever’s Gonna Start Tonight, was named one of Film Comment’s top 10 films at Sundance, and she has won several awards at Sundance Film Festival.

At this year’s Sundance, she received the Directing Award for U.S. Dramatic Feature for her film Beach Rats, and she recently guest directed HBO’s High Maintenance.

Through the Gates is a joint project from The Media School, the IU Office of the Provost and Executive Vice President, and IU Newsroom. Media School dean James Shanahan is one of the hosts of the series.
