Through the Gates discusses The Nutcracker with ballerinas

The Media School Report • Nov. 30, 2017

Through the Gates: IU this Week welcomes Sarah Wroth, BS’03, associate chair of the ballet department at the Jacobs School of Music, and junior Georgia Dalton, who dances as the Sugar Plum Fairy in IU’s upcoming production of The Nutcracker.

Wroth is a Jacobs alumna who has performed with the Boston Ballet Company nationally and internationally and has been in more than 530 performances of The Nutcracker. In May, she returned to IU as a visiting associate professor of music in ballet and as associate chair of the ballet department.

Dalton has trained in ballet since age 3, and she has attended intensives with American Ballet Theatre, Boston Ballet and more. She is pursuing a Bachelor of Science in ballet performance with an outside field in marketing.

Tickets are still available for the performance, which runs now through Sunday at the Musical Arts Center.

Through the Gates is a joint project from The Media School, the IU Office of the Provost and Executive Vice President, and IU Newsroom. Media School dean James Shanahan is one of the hosts of the series.
