Through the Gates discusses Penderecki’s music with Jacobs professors

To prepare for the upcoming campus visit of Maestro Krzysztof Penderecki, Through the Gates: IU This Week talks to Halina Goldberg, professor of musicology, and Dominick DiOrio, assistant professor of choral conducting — both from IU’s Jacobs School of Music.

Host Janae Cummings interviews Goldberg and DiOrio about Penderecki’s career, including his musical style, cultural impact and upcoming visit to campus for Penderecki Conducts Penderecki: “ST. LUKE PASSION.”

Penderecki, a world-renowned, award-winning composer and conductor, will perform with the Oratorio Chorus & Philharmonic Orchestra at 8 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 15, at the Musical Arts Center, Ford-Crawford Hall. Admission is free.

Through the Gates is a joint project from The Media School, the IU Office of the Provost and Executive Vice President, and IU Newsroom. Media School dean James Shanahan is one of the hosts of the series.
