IU senior Aspen Schopp has been named the first Tom Hirons IU Media School intern.

The Tom Hirons IU Media School internship program provides an internship to one Media School student per year at Hirons, an Indianapolis-based advertising, public relations and digital agency. The internship program emphasizes work with individuals and organizations that founder Tom Hirons, BA’75, has a significant relationship with.

“I am thrilled just to have an internship at Hirons, so also becoming the first Tom Hirons IU Media School intern is an honor,” Schopp said. “I’m excited for the opportunity to work with Tom and to have access to such a unique experience.”

Schopp is a senior in The Media School studying public relations and advertising. She was a member of The Media School’s Public Relations Student Society of America Bateman Case Study Competition team during the 2017-18 school year. The team earned an honorable mention.

Before founding Hirons in 1978, Tom Hirons graduated with a degree in political science in 1975 from IU. Hirons taught advertising and branding classes at IU for nearly 20 years as the J. Stewart Riley endowed chair for the School of Journalism, and also acted as visiting lecturer for the Department of Telecommunications.
