Overby receives fellowship for conference travel

Doctoral candidate Katrina Overby has received the Alex M. Doty Memorial Fellowship travel award by The Media School for her travels to the National Conference on Race and Ethnicity in American Higher Education at the end of May.

Overby will present June 1 as part of a panel, “Let’s S.L.A.Y. Together: Exploring Fictive Kinship Among Black Female Doctoral Students.” She and the other panelists, fellow IU doctoral students Gloria Howell, Francesca White and Tiffany Campbell, will discuss the experiences of black female doctoral students in predominantly white institutions.

The conference is May 29-June 3 in Fort Worth, Texas.
