The Media School Graduate Association will host Oscar night, including showing the annual awards broadcast on the big screen in the Franklin Hall commons, Feb. 26.
First, organizers will present a panel discussion, “The Oscars: Politics, Race and Gender,” at 6:30 p.m. in the Beckley Studio. Panelists will focus on the representation at the Oscars and in film. Graduate student Megan Connor will moderate the discussion. Panelists include students Jesse Balzer, James Gilmore, Kate Halliwell and André Seewood.
At 7:30 p.m. in the commons, organizers and anyone who wishes to participate will tread a red carpet to show off their Oscar attire. Anyone who wishes to attend is welcome to wear prom or evening formal wear (though not required).
At 8 p.m., the big screen in the commons will be tuned to the broadcast preshow. The awards program is at 8:30 p.m.
