Filmmaker, alumnus to screen “My Life”

Filmmaker Bruce Joel Rubin, MS’80, will return to campus for the first time in decades.

Rubin will screen My Life, his 1993 directorial debut starring Michael Keaton and Nicole Kidman, at 6:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 1, at the IU Cinema. There will be a Q&A session afterward.

Rubin is best known for his original screenplay Ghost starring Patrick Swayze and Demi Moore. The screenplay won an Academy Award in 1991. He’ll screen Ghost the next day.

His visit is part of the IU Cinema’s Jorgensen Guest Filmmaker Series. The next day, he will give a lecture as part of The Media School’s Speaker Series.
