BFC/A presents The Scar of Shame with new, live score

The Media School Report • Oct. 24, 2017

The 1927 silent feature The Scar of Shame will be presented with a live, world-premiere performance of a new orchestral score on IU’s campus.

The Black Film Center/Archive is one of the presenting partners for The Scar of Shame/Renèe Baker Project, which takes place at 7 p.m. Nov. 4 at the IU Cinema.

Motifs in composer Renèe Baker’s score are inspired by the work of Phil Moore, a largely forgotten jazz pianist, orchestral arranger, band leader and recording artist whose collection of papers and scores are held at the BFC/A.
